I’m a born and raised Michigander nestled in a tiny town just north of Grand Rapids, MI. Apart from photography, I enjoy traveling, visiting museums, and Lake Michigan beach days.

Most everything I’ve done was built upon through experimental firsthand experience. While developing my technical skill and way of communicating visually, I mentored with my favorite artists from nearby and across oceans to gain insight and new perspectives. Experiencing various cultures and ways of life, artist’s approaches, perspectives, etc. have taught me how to view the world differently. I’ve had the incredible honor to have images featured in publications and photograph clients across the United States and abroad, but my motivation never comes from increased recognition. I just want to make good work that makes an impact—however small it may be—and stay inspired. I still continually seek to evolve as a photographer and challenging my comfort zone is my favorite teacher.

Throughout my work and life, I have been inspired by the littlest moments that often go unnoticed. I pour my heart into every frame and go into each project without a predetermined vision, allowing the people and environments to set the scene and create the narrative. Noticing the characteristics of impermanence is where I think the magic lies. Observing what is and capturing people exactly as they present themselves to the world over fabricating reality is my preferred approach.

I like to play with harsh light, high contrast, and wider angles to set a scene. I think because of the film director Stanley Kubrick, I started being led by symmetry, dominant colors, and thinking of every detail placed within a frame. It’s sometimes not so much about what an image looks like, yet how it makes you feel. Photography that’s about the art over approval online.

I find photographs tend to gain importance as life progresses. I feel this when looking through my photos from childhood or while scrolling my iPhone’s camera roll. I stay focused on this idea and carry it into my work, photographing in a way that isn’t motivated by current trends or what may garner the most attention on social media— a place I tend to focus little energy on.

I would be thrilled to collaborate with you.

I have experience traveling for various forms of photography coverage. Please reach out regardless of the destination— new environments often inspire me, whether it’s Manhattan, Walt Disney World, your neighborhood, or a little midwestern town. Even the mundane has something special to showcase.
